- "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey, because Thomas and his gang never give up, even through the hard times in the Scorch. The gang tries and perseveres throughout the entire book.
- "Just A Dream" by Nelly, becuase Thomas does think the entire journey throughout the Scorch is just a hallucination. Also, since the song is about a person thinking about somebody, Thomas also thinks about someone that he loves. This song would go well in a soundtrack for the book.
- "No Sleep 'Till Brooklyn" by The Beastie Boys. I chose this because of the title. Thomas and his gang have only a few days to get to a safe haven out of the Scorch. They can't rest that much, and they barely ever sleep. I felt that this song's title explains the group's mentality about getting to the safe haven.
- Finally, I chose the song "We Made It" by Linkin Park and Busta Rhymes. This song is about people perservering and not listening to what others say, and then accomplishing their goals. This song is almost telling the story of this book. Thomas and his gang do make it through the Scorch, and they do what they knew they always could even though the enemies said they would not.
